We rallied some Ice Cream Connoisseurs to rate our new sin, EatKinda ice cream, made with cauliflower. Leading the way with a thorough review — @sh1teater on Instagram:
"There is no way I would’ve picked this as being anything other than a high-quality ice cream. And absolutely no way I would’ve guessed that this was cauliflower. It is deliciously sweet and unbelievably creamy, plus the strawberry swirl is a perfect amount of sweet and tangy to compliment the ice cream"
We searched high and low to recruit some worthy ice cream tasters to try our newest sin!
When we found them, we sent a pot of each flavour their way with a few questions to really test their connoisseurial skills...This is how it went 👇
Q. You only get one chance to make a first impression, so cast your eyes over the pots of creamy goodness; how would you rate the look? Does the colour match the flavour? Are the flavours swirled, ribboned or evenly blended? Take a big whiff — what dominant aromas can you detect?
😊 Both flavours are blended well, with pieces of either chocolate or fruit evenly spread through the tubs. The smell definitely reminds me of long summers. The minty scent reminds me of iced tea in the backyard and is very nostalgic. The strawberry scent reminds me of the strawberry punnets at the grocery store in December when everyone is in the holiday spirit. 3.5/5.

🤤 Strawberry looks very appealing because of the swirl. The colours and smell match the flavour. 5/5.

🤤 First appearance is full of strawberry swirl, and choc chips. Not a strong aroma, but the colour provides a visual scent. Looks yum. The swirl, and chips continue down the pottle, so you get a bit with almost every mouthful. 5/5.

😋 The top [of the Strawberry Swirl] is pretty. It has a swirl of sauce and is pink. The ice cream is opaque pink with no pulpy bits. The syrup just has a transparent dark pink look. It is glossy, but there are no strawberry bits in it. I initially think this will be average at best, and strawberry is boring. But it scores a 4/5 for looks. It's not the ice cream’s fault I have had bad strawb icie in the past. I take a hearty whiff, it smells exactly as I expect it should, and it makes me feel a little princessy. It could only be topped with a sprinkle of edible glitter. 4/5.

Q. How would you rate the “mouth feel” of your ice cream? Take a small spoonful of ice cream and note the texture. Is it smooth or gritty? Creamy or icy? Does it feel heavy or light in the mouth? Does it melt quickly or slowly?
🤤 Nice smooth, and creamy with the odd bit of crunch, which I like. 5/5.

The mint ice cream is smooth in texture, and then as it melts, you get little lumps of hard chocolate that melt easily. It is sweet and has a tingling cooling sensation when swirled around in the mouth.
The strawberry one is grainy at first but easily melts after a few seconds in your mouth. It's sweet and creamy and reminiscent of a strawberry daiquiri.

😋 The texture is smooth and creamy. It feels like normal ice cream. I can tell it isn't made with premium just milked cow’s cream, but I'm also aware that this hasn't been a cheap dollar bucket of plastic masquerading as a frozen dessert. 4/5.

😋 A creamy, pleasantly light-feeling dessert that lasted hard long enough to reach the lips before slowly melting in mouth. Felt delightfully decadent. 4/5.

Q. Take another small bite of your ice cream; how yum is it? Is the ice cream sweet, tangy or sour? How about the aftertaste? Does it linger or disappear quickly? What flavours can you detect?
😊 Tastes very smooth and creamy; flavour doesn't linger a lot on the mouth. 3/5
~ Rebecca Fay
😋 Strawberry Swirl: the strawberry taste is prominent and refreshing. Be great after a nice spicy pizza. 4/5.
~ Marjua
😊 The aftertaste stays for a while, is nice and minty and leaves nice explosions of flavour in your mouth (bits of cookie). 3/5.
~ Jesse Smith
They both melt down to a heavy cream consistency with a nice lingering aftertaste of each individual flavour.
