Our customers loved our infamous Burger Pizza so much, it’s back at HELL to satisfy meat-eaters and animal-lovers alike, just in time for World Vegan Day on 1 November.
The United Nations predicts by 2050, we’ll need to feed 9.7 billion people – and alternative proteins (like Beyond Meat) as well as sometimes swapping out meat for plant-based options, are simple ways to reduce the pressure on the planet.
A US study has compared the environmental impacts of the Beyond Burger to a US beef burger - it found, to be made, a Beyond Burger uses significantly less water and land, generates fewer emissions, and requires less energy.
At HELL, we’re happy if we can convince even the hardiest meat-eater to eat one meat-free meal a week, and we think Burger Pizza is a damn good way to start.
In June, when the pizza was first released, we asked those who ate it what they thought. 30% of respondents said the pattie was the best part of the pizza, and a whopping 70% said it tastes just like meat and even the most hardcore of meat lovers loved it.
Most importantly, 46% of people surveyed said it was ‘freakin delicious’ - and while we still love meat, we want to encourage more people to try a plant-based option the next time they’re ordering pizza.
Beyond Meat, in our humble opinion, is leading the way in alternative proteins. Like us, they also commit to looking after the environment, and their meat-free ‘pattie’ is GMO and soy-free.
For any pizza to make it onto our menu – and return – it has to tick all the Master’s boxes; taste great, use sustainable ingredients, and satisfy our loyal fans. Since June, we’ve been trialling other plant-based options, to see if they cut the mustard. At HELL we don’t compromise, and believe Beyond is the best, - so the price (which is slightly higher) reflects the premium quality of Burger Pizza.
We’ve also answered the calls of vegans - and this time, there is a vegan option available, using two types of vegan cheese. Thanks to the Master (and unlike others), we don’t charge extra for our vegan friends to enjoy our pizzas too.
At the start of 2019, 10% of Kiwis said they’re meat-free, or mostly meat-free - meaning 90% of us aren’t or haven’t thought about eating more plants. Maybe you aren’t sure how to eat more plant-based food? Burger Pizza is a tasty and easy way to try ‘alternative proteins’.
Like anything worth doing, Burger Pizza is available for a good time, not a long time - so get in quick and order one before it’s gone!
